Whisper on the Wind by Maureen Lang is a Christian historical fiction rolled into a romance as well. I am typically not very adventurous in the categories of my reading. I tend to stay with general Christian fiction books. However, through my blog and receiving the opportunity to read books, I have begun to broaden my range of categories. This is the second historical fiction book that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The war period books have become a favorite of mine. This book was especially close to me as my husband's grandmother is Belgian. This book painted a clear picture in my head of how things were during the time of WWI. I could envision the soldiers at every corner and the risks that these brave people took to fight for what they believed in. Maureen Lang draws you in to the characters and you feel the emotions that they felt and you anticipate the next move. I also found myself angry and sad at times, based on the nature of this book. Although not graphic, it brings to memory the horrible things that people went through in that time period. However, the love that Isa has for Edward overshadows the bad and you find yourself willing them to forget about what's going on around them and be together. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through Tyndale House Publishers as a part of their Blog Network. All opinions stated are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.
