Written years after his first Flinx book, Alan Dean Foster's "For Love Of Mother Not" shows an added maturity in writing style. Some of the briefly mentioned people and places from later Flinx books get a solid grounding in Planet Moth reality, and the narrative is effortless.

My minor quibble is that someone must have used OCR (optical character recognition) to create the Kindle edition. At one point Flinx uses the equivalent of a phone booth, which Foster calls a com booth, but which Kindle shows as a "corn booth".

Another time, someone takes "fond" off a shelf to eat. It makes you wonder just how many OCR-induced typos there are in here.
