Night Chills was the first Dean Koontz book I ever read. I read it when it was first published in paperback in the mid seventies. After reading it I was hooked and have been a fan ever since. The book seemed to confirm the general theme of Big Brother messing with our minds, trying to control the population by hook or crook, etc. I remember thinking that it was indeed a "horror" story just because it was within the realm of possibility. If you want something that is creepy but not a "slasher, gory, monster" thing, I recommend this book. It is unsettling even now and a really good read!
